EU Inc.: New Impetus for Founding and Growing Companies in Europe
Updated: Sep 24
The day before yesterday, the European Commission presented its proposal for the "EU Inc.", a so-called 28th regime for a new company-law framework. This voluntary, digital European framework is intended to make it easier for companies in the EU to incorporate, operate and expand across the EU and, ultimately, to persuade them to stay in Europe – or to return to Europe.
The "EU Inc." is intended to offer start-ups, scale-ups and growth-oriented companies a digital, low-cost standard corporate form with simplified incorporation, standardised financing and participation models and EU-wide recognition.
In future, incorporations are to be possible entirely online within 48 hours and at minimal cost – without mandatory start-up capital. The aim is to make cross-border activities considerably easier: uniform rules and a central EU register are intended to reduce bureaucracy and speed up processes. Let us await the final implementation – for start-ups, it would be the long-awaited simplification and acceleration.
